Interest in SH₂OUT accreditation has taken off this October with venues using the quieter days as an opportunity to review their safety procedures.
After a busy summer launching and marketing the new accreditation process, the SH2OUT office has had a flurry of interest from venues looking to begin the accreditation process. The quieter winter months offer a great opportunity for many venues to re-assess their saftey procedures and identify areas that might need addressing or updating. SH2OUT will work with venues throughout the winter to develop their documentation and saftey processes with the aim to progress venues to the second "Interim" level of accreditation by April 2018. This will mean that as soon as venues open for swimming in the spring, SH2OUT can complete the the second site visit and have the venues fully accredited for the busy summer season.
Several new venues have already completed self certification and are now working towards gaining Interim level with a number of other venues starting Self-Certification in September. One of these is Cardiff International White Water Centre, supported by Swim Wales, who have recently completed "self-certification" and will shortly have their first site visit to ensure that all paperwork meets SH2OUT standards. Scaling Dam, is a new venue in offering open water swimming in 2018. Scaling Dam Sailing Club already offers a wide range of on water activity including sailing and other watersports so it is great that SH2OUT have been able to support in enabling the club to add open water swimming to their offering.
Any venue that needs help to develop their saftey standards will be able to access support from the SH2OUT members of staff over the winter months to ensure that they are able to deliver at a high standard in 2018.
